Monoclonal antibodies to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) were tested using ELISA, Western blot analysis, and immunoperoxidase test. As demonstrated by ELISA, the antibodies were free of cross reactivity with transmissible gastroenteritis virus and Group A rotaviruses. Their specificity was further confirmed by an indirect immunoperoxidase test for the demonstration of PEDV in infected cell lines and intestinal enterocytes of experimentally infected piglets. Possible use of the monoclonal antibodies in the diagnostics of PEDV infections in swine herds is discussed
