To the new Executive Editor: Welcome onboard2016-08-04
As much as we regret to lose the long-year experience and dedication of Ing. Zdenka Radosova, we welcome her replacement, our young Executive Editor, Mgr. Zuzana Karlikova who was selected by the Search Committee of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences a few months ago.
Mgr. Karlikova studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of South Bohemia in Ceské Budejovice, and earned her MSc. in zoology. She is currently enrolled in a post-graduate programme (Animal Ecology and Behaviour), at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague to earn her PhD.
Her areas of responsibility with Veterinarni medicina are administration of the editorial process, editing of manuscripts, release of the issues.
We wish her a good working atmosphere, enthusiasm for all challenges of the editorial work and satisfaction with the results of her endeavour.
E. Baranyiova and K. Hruska
Best wishes to Ing. Zdenka Radosova for her retirement2016-08-03
More than a quarter century is quite respectable when we consider a day-to-day activity in receiving, reading, checking, rejecting and editing manuscripts for scientific journals. More than 8 000 manuscripts submitted to the journal Veterinarni Medicina had appeared on the desk of Zdenka Radosova (Ing. in agriculture) in the time span from 1990 to 2016, when she held a position of the Executive Editor. One thousand nine hundred and forty two papers published were written by 3891 authors, affiliated with 929 organisations from 67 countries.
One could not count the number of pages, tables, figures that passed her desk and her attention. Her involvement was in positions of both Executive Editor and Editor-in-Chief, and her contribution to the quality the journal is undeniable. In her professional era, she witnessed the greatest changes in publishing activities since the discovery of printing, with advent of computerization, internet and all the other features of the present publishing scene. The most important has been publishing all papers in English from 2000 and using a unique editorial system developed for the journal Veterinarni Medicina in 2010. All changes have been fully supported by Zdenka Radošová, although it was not easy to be the first who changed a traditional routine.
Zdenka Radosova retired as of July 1, 2016. Generations of authors will remember her friendly and always helpful style in contact with them, her meticulous work until the last moment before a journal issue left the print.
We thank for her dedicated years of perfect collaboration and service to the global knowledge dissemination and wish her long and quiet years, without the stress of deadlines.
Eva Baranyiova and Karel Hruska
Thanks to the past, best wishes for the future 2015-01-27
A part of my professional life has been connected with the journal Veterinarni Medicina in the last 25 years. More than 8000 manuscripts were submitted and 1796 papers published. These papers have been assessed by more than 2000 reviewers. Hence, the reviewers, the members of the Editorial Board, and my daily collaborators Zdenka Radosova and Neysan Donnelly are those, to whom I owe my gratitude for collaboration.
Professor Eva Baranyiova has been nominated the Editor-in-Chief. Her experience in this field, enthusiasm and diligence are well known and greatly appreciated. I wish to Eva and to the journal Veterinarni Medicina full success in coming years.
Karel Hruska, Editor-in-Chief in years 1990 to 2014.

Acknowledgement of the language editor and the reviewers
The language revision of all published papers by Neysan Donnelly of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich, Germany, is greatly acknowledged.
There is no possibility of publishing a scientific journal without the invaluable help of reviewers. They assess the novelty of results and interpret them in the correct light, they teach hundreds of people for whom they usually remain unknown for ever. More than 500 experts from 40 countries have been addressed to review manuscripts in 2014. They have contributed enormously to maintaining the standard of the journal. Both authors and editors greatly appreciate their excellent help.
